Come meet your next adventure partner!

  • Blaze

Blaze is a 5 year old Wind River Reservation mustang mare that was rescued from a kill pen in Kansas. She was unhandled and extremely fearful of people when she arrived at Wild Spirit Mustangs in spring of 2023. It took her quite some time to get over her fear of people and learning to be haltered was very difficult for her. Although she is halter broke now, it sometimes takes a minute to catch her, you just have to go slow. When she gets nervous, her initial reaction is to bolt but her reactivity is becoming less prevalent and she’s starting to think through things and looking at people for guidance before reacting. She is definitely the definition of a wild spirit! She knows basic ground work, picks up her feet and is learning to trailer load calmly. She needs a very experienced person that is patient and can continue her training. Once started under saddle I think she would excel doing ranch work or ride on the trails. She is 14.3+ hands, built stocky, and very sure footed. Blaze would thrive in a home where she would have her own dedicated person that can give her consistent time and the love and attention she deserves. She is very sweet and wants to please! She currently lives in a mixed herd and respects fences.

  • Sophia

Sophia is a 7 year old mare that was rescued from a Colorado Kill Pen with her pregnant mother. She is not a mustang (she’s a thoroughbred) and her previous owner “discarded” her due to her having physitis in her hind pastern bones, making her unsuitable for a racing career. As such, she will not be rideable, but she would make a great companion or liberty/trick horse, and would probably love to be ponied on trail rides in the mountains. Her favorite things are belly rubs and sprinting as fast as she can in the pasture (leaving all the mustangs in her dust) and will show off her pretty sorrel color prancing around to impress the boys over the fence. Sophia knows all the basics, is good with her feet, loads in the trailer but can be a little nervous trailering, which we are still working on. She is at the bottom of the herd, gets along with everyone and respects fences. Come meet this sweet soul, she wants to be your best friend!

  • Spencer

Spencer is a very athletic 4 year old gelding, he is 14.2 hands tall and still growing. He was rescued together with Blaze from a Kansas kill pen in spring of 2023, both sadly ended up there with hundreds of other mustangs after a mass round up of mustangs from the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. Spencer is a little shy when it comes to new people but once he warms up to you is a very in your pocket kind of guy. He is gentle, sensible, smart, willing, and is always game to play with his herd mates, he will make a toy out of just about anything (he’s super goofy that way), and he loves dogs! He knows his groundwork but can be nervous about picking up his feet. With time and more training, he will make someone a great trail horse as he is sure footed and fast. Spencer will thrive in a home with other young (confident) geldings to play with (and learn from) and needs an experienced, patient person that will take things slow with him as he is sensitive and is still learning that people won’t hurt him.
