River is another rescue from the Colorado kill pen together with Pedro and Dahlia. Through a series of unfortunate events before she arrived at Wild Spirit Mustangs, she fractured her leg (likely from being kicked) and we almost lost her. After months of daily care she beat the odds and her infection and break completely healed! Her story didn’t end here, she landed the most perfect forever home with my friend Hannah and has been exploring the trails in the Tetons, and as of last fall has moved to greener pastures in Kentucky where she has over 40 acres to roam!
Testimonial from her owner Hannah:
About 4 years ago I adopted Miss Riv, from my dear friend Jeske and it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. In all the ups and downs with Riv one of the best parts has been seeing her thrive and grow. This last year she’s found her match in my partner Cole. She had her first magical season in the mountains and it was all I ever could have hoped for her! She’s running a herd of 5 horses now on 40 acres and I’ve never seen her happier, stronger both mentally and physically! We love you Miss Riv & thank you Jeske for giving this mare a second chance at life.”

Rosie was saved from a Texas kill pen and came to Wild Spirit Mustangs at the same time as Spencer and Blaze. My good friend Dee helped unload the three when they arrived, and she immediately fell in love with little miss Rosie. In the days and weeks that followed, Dee would come over every day to earn Rosie’s trust. They built an incredible connection and Rosie soon thereafter was halter broke and ready to go home with Dee and her daughter Daisy, where her new herd mates were anxiously awaiting her arrival. Rosie is living her best life, keeping everyone on their toes and showing off her wild spirit while being ponied on the trails (she is known to be a little spitfire!). Dee is planning to bring Rosie along as her small but mighty pack horse this summer and we think that will be the perfect job for her. We are so thankful to Dee for opening up her heart and home to Rosie and for joining Wild Spirit Mustangs’ Board as the Treasurer.

Piper is another save from the same notorious Colorado kill pen (Fabrizius). All the horses that arrived at Wild Spirit Mustangs from the kill pens were very skinny, Piper however, was pretty round and once in my care, kept getting rounder, well….. it turned out she was pregnant! My friend Elaine who had just weaned her young colt from his mother got in touch with me and was looking for a play buddy for her colt and so Piper made the long trek from Idaho to Elaine in Oklahoma! Once Piper’s colt, Zip was born Jeske went to Oklahoma to visit Elaine and meet Piper’s adorable colt. Piper and Zip have found an incredible family with Elaine and her herd of four horses and get to run and play on hundreds of acres. They really hit the jackpot with their forever home!

Tango and Mango came from the Colorado Kill pen and Jeske rescued these two mares together with Ruthie (who is now a Wild Spirit Mustangs sanctuary horse). Since all three mares were said to have been exposed to a stallion, Jeske approached a rescue in Colorado to take in Mango and Tango, as she did not have enough room nor the appropriate facility to handle potentially three foals! Mountain Valley Horse Rescue located in McCoy, CO graciously took the two mares and Tango had a baby filly they named Cora B. Mango found an amazing home shortly thereafter, as well as baby Cora B. Tango is still thriving at the rescue and hopefully she will find her own person soon!
A huge thanks to Mountain Valley Horse Rescue for saying YES to helping these sweet mares and taking such incredible care of them!

Juneau was saved from the notorious Colorado kill pen (Fabrizius) together with Pedro, River and Dahlia. Jeske reached out to Mountain Shadows Equine Revival based in Laramie, WY to see if they could take in Juneau, as she had a bad bump on her right knee that needed to be seen by a vet asap. The x-rays showed that she would never be sound due to having lost about 80% of range of motion in that joint (right front). Despite this, she is a spunky, happy horse that loves to run and play with other horses. She got very lucky to be adopted by an amazing Wyoming family that were looking for a horse to keep their last senior ranch horse company on their dozens of acres.
Huge thanks to Mountain Shadows Equine Revival for taking her in, providing her with the absolute best care, and finding her the perfect home!
