Trust creates Peace

Jeske’s training philosophy is based on a foundation of trust and connection. She has found, especially with mustangs, that it is the most critical piece in ensuring the horse feels they can look to you for leadership and partnership. she believes that this way of interacting and training, where the horse’s feelings and needs are listened to and two-way communication is established between horse and human, will create safe, relaxed and confident horses. Jeske uses a combination of positive and negative reinforcement training, based on the individual needs of each horse. Her training is primarily influenced by Equusoma, CAT-H approach, Rachael Draaisma’s language signs and calming signals of horses, Amanda Held and the Equine Wisdom Institute, Mustang Maddy, Yvette Blokesch (featherlight horsemanship) and Warwick Schiller’s principles of training.

Besides gentling, training and rehabilitating Wild Spirit Mustangs’ rescue horses, Jeske takes on private horses for training on a limited basis as well. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help with your mustang!

Ethical Training Resources

  • Positive Reinforcement Training

There are several excellent professional positive reinforcement trainers, but in going through Mustang Maddy’s Horse-Human Connection Academy, Jeske finds that this course is the most comprehensive and easy to follow.

  • Connection Based Training

Jeske’s style of negative reinforcement training is influenced and inspired by Yvette from Featherlight Horsemanship. Her academy has a broad selection of videos and her work has been really helpful in understanding “problem” horse behavior.

  • Attunement Based Training

Warwick Schiller and his book “principles of training” is a great resource and serves as a strong foundation for starting young horses. His philosophy of horse training is based in establishing connection and trust, which in turn produces calm, confident, relaxed and reliable horses.
